Blue Destiny:

The Blue Destiny Unit 1 was my 4th resin conversion
kit that I've complete. I think I'm finally starting to get the
hang of this resin stuff. Now I just need to start casting the stuff.
Anyway, this project consisted of Bandai's 1/100 scale RGM-79 (G)
GM kit and a recast of B-Club's 1/100 scale Blue Destiny resin conversion
kit. The conversion kit provided me with parts to create all 3 versions
of the Blue Destiny (Unit 1, 2, or 3), but not enough pieces to
complete all 3 units at the same time (many parts were shared between
units). So being a huge fan of Unit 1's GM look, I chose that version
to build. I also liked some aspects of Unit 2's color scheme (mainly
the white accents, I'm not a big fan of the red shoulders), as well
as it's backpack and leg thrusters that replace the vents on Unit
1's legs. So my vision was to create a Unit 1 Blue Destiny (with
some minor paint scheme changes) with interchangeable parts to create
a ground and space version. I was able to archive this by the power
magnets. I now can swap out thrusters and vents on the legs and
remove the hinge cover plates on the ground unit's backpack to attach
the space pack. I also used magnets on the space pack's thrusters
so they are easier to position and added an antenna to the ground
unit's back pack. The last thing I modified was the machine gun,
mainly the barrel region.
As far as painting goes, all metal areas were
airbrushed with Alclad, and all other colors were done with Tamiya
acrylics. The bulk of the decals applied to this kit were purchased
from Samuel Decal. The
decal sheet was called "CW
Blue Destiny." I also used a combination of leftover warning
labels I had laying around. This was the first time I used decals
created by Samuel Decal, and I must say, I'm impressed. I would
definitely buy decals from this site again and would recommend them
to anyone.
