Model Gallery

This is non scale RockMan X (known as MegaMan X in the US) action figure/model kit from Bandai. This is only my second completed kit which is not related to the Gundam universe, and rightfully so. I have always been infatuated with the MageMan character ever since the first time I played the original MegaMan video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

There's not much to this kit, mainly because it is supposed to be more of an action figure, but I did enjoy building it. I did do a few modifications, though, mostly to the internal skeleton, to archive the pose I wanted. I modified the shoulders and back, as well as the left knee area. I also added sheets of styrene to the bottom of each foot to fill in the empty void. Other than those few minor modifications, the kit is stock.

With the paint, I wanted to try something a little different. So I went with a glossy candy coat look on the dark blue and red areas. This is the first time I've done this technique to such a large area on a model kit. I feel it came out pretty well, and I plan to use this technique in the future, though I will vary my process to hopefully improve upon the look. As for the light blue, white, and skin tone colors, they all were done in a flat finish. Alclad was used for all metal looking areas, as well as for the undercoat for the candy coat finish. Tamiya acrylics were used for all other areas. There were no decals added to this kit. All in all, I am happy with this project and would build another Bandai RockMan kit if the opportunity would present itself.
