This is a 1/100 RX-78-6 Gundam Mudrock resin conversion
kit for the MG RX-78NT1 Gundam Alex. This was my second experience
working with resin pieces. I had a little bit of trouble getting
some of the pieces to fit together properly, but after a little
putty and some sanding, everything worked out fine. With this kit,
I stayed fairly close to the original colors. The only major color
difference is where there was yellow on the original, I used orange.
I also used a light gray in place of white. The entire kit was airbrushed
with Tamiya Acrylics and then top coated with a mixture of Tamiya
Flat and Future. For the panel lines, I used a chalk pastel wash.
I did do a few modifications on this kit. I added
workable hydraulics to the ankle regions, as well as customized
the beam rifle and shield. The shield is basically a cut-down version
of the Gundam Alex's shield. As for the beam rifle, it's a combination
of the Gundam Alex's rifle cut up and spliced with the Gundam ver
1.5's rifle. Overall, I'm happy with this model. Other than dealing
with some major seam problems, I enjoyed building this kit.
One last thing - I want to send out a Big Thanks
to Phil Goodwin for the awesome decals. All of the decals on this
kit except for the Federation symbols and the warning labels came
from him. You can find Phil at his website Mobile
Suit Hanger.
