Zeta Gundam:

1/100 Zeta Gundam
Model Gallery

The Zeta Gundam was my fourteenth master grade kit. With this kit, I stayed pretty true to the anime colors red, white, blue, and yellow. I did a little something different with the painting on this kit. I used Testor's Model Master spray enamels for the base coat. It came out okay, but I don't plan on using them again. I didn't have enough control over the paint flow; therefore, on some of the pieces, the paint got a little thick. Anyways, onto the rest of the colors. All of the top coat colors were done with Tamiya Acrylics, which were airbrushed on. I detailed the panel lines with a Micron pen and then added a mixture of Tamiya Flat and Future Floor Polish for the final coat.

As for modifications, I did very little this time. Actually, there were only two. I lengthened the chest a little to cover the cockpit hinge more, and I modified the arms on the wings so they would not rotate up or down. This was done to prevent the wings from sagging. Just remember, if you do any of these mods, your Zeta will not be able to transform into the Wave Rider Mode.

This model is not in a true fixed position, though I am treating it as one because I do not plan on repositioning it. I glued the groin area so the legs would not split, and I glued the chest and neck areas so they could not move up or down. Everything else can move - feet, knees, hips, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and head. The wings can swing back and forth; they just can't turn up or down, and the tail fin can move as normal.

I mounted this kit on a wooden plaque I bought from Michael's. I sanded it, stained it, and polyurethaned it. I used a metal rod that I also got from Michael's for the support stem.
